We have teamed up with the Port Phillip Leader as we pledge to #LoveOurBay and clean up our streets, beaches and waters - but we can’t do this alone.
why love our bay
Port Phillip’s much loved Bay and beaches are suffering as a result of our plastic addiction and we need your help to tackle it.
Research from the Port Phillip EcoCentre found that an incredible 828 million pieces of litter enter the Bay from the Yarra and Maribyrnong rivers every year. Volunteers from Beach Patrol, Love Our Streets and Earthcare St Kilda collect thousands of kilograms of litter from our beaches and streets each year but they can’t tackle this alone.
Port Phillip Bay is home to a unique and incredible array of wildlife, indeed 80% of the aquatic life found in our Bay is found nowhere else in the world.
As well as posing a threat to the marine life in Port Phillip Bay, there is a real risk to human health and the economy, with tourism being adversely impacted.
