Weaving Workshop With Local Native Fibres

Using locally harvested native plants, learn how to create your own coiled basket. The core material is visible and can either be a single plant fibre or mixed fibres. Add a bit of colour with found materials such as fabric scraps and wool. Options for stitching materials include hemp twine, raffia or strong cotton

Caroline Hawkins is a local artist whose practice encompasses creating sculptural fibre art, basketweaving, researching, learning and developing global cultural weaving practices and techniques.

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Find, gather and prepare suitable plants for basket making

  • Start your basketShape the sides of your basket

  • Finish your basket

Price : $65 includes all materials to make your own basket
