Boomerang Bags Sewing Bee

  • Port Melbourne Neighbourhood Centre Corner of Liardet Street and Nott Street Port Melbourne (map)

Want to do something to support your community and the environment?

Grab a friend and join us at the Port Melbourne Neighbourhood Centre from 1 to 4pm for a buzz of activity: we'll be tracing patterns, cutting fabric, ironing, stamping, pinning, sewing, eating cake and drinking tea...

The lovely team from The Leaf Store will even provide some tasty treats for all the volunteers!

All that to help make Port Phillip plastic-bag free. Having fun and helping the planet - that's what we call win-win!

No experience needed. From ninja sewers to crafter-wanna-be, everyone is welcome. It's seriously fun, and you'll feel good knowing you're making a real difference.

What to bring (if you have any of these, otherwise just bring yourself):

  • sewing machine
  • second-hand materials to donate (e.g. old bedsheets, curtains, material cutoffs)

There will be an opportunity for you to take some sewing home if you’d like to continue sewing in the comfort of your own home.
